Nar and Phu around High Manang Valley trekking led by expert staffs of Sherpa Royal Trek, one of the recently introduced and opened destinations for foreigners since last decade and least explored area of upper Manang valley located beyond north massive Annapurna range.

Starting this trek on the popular Annapurna circuit, scenic route from warm areas of Lamjung and towards alpine zone of high Manang mountainous valley leading you to hidden and mystical areas of Nar and Phu Himalayan wildest country where the rare and elusive Snow Leopard and Blue Sheeps are found in wilderness of this amazing landscape. Perhaps this is one of the few trekking where it takes you to two high passes of Nar-Phu Kang-la with Thorang-la pass.

An overwhelming experience of a life time, visiting remote and isolated villages of Nar and Phu with its rich old culture similar to Tibetan, this area seldom traveled by westerners, so this trek will be special crossing Kang-la to Manang village on the popular Annapurna circuit route, with another adventure over the highest pass of this trip at Thorang-la 5,416 m high with tremendous views of Mt. Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himalaya range and then towards Jomsom town of lower Mustang after visiting holy Muktinath Temple, regarded as holy for both Hindu and Buddhist and then taking a short scenic flight to picturesque Pokhara where this mesmerizing Nar and Phu Around High Manang Valley trekking concludes with great  service of Sherpa Royal Trek.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu via respective airlines.

Day 02: Drive to Jagat 1,290 m via Beshisahar 800 m – 08 hrs.

Day 03: Trek to Dharapani 1,920 m – 05 hours.

Day 04: Trek to Koto 2,670 m – 05 hours.

Day 05: Trek to Dharmashala 3,230m – 05 hours.

Day 06: Trek to Kyang 4,100 m – 6 hrs.

Day 07: Trek to Phu village 4,080 m – 06 hours.

Day 08: Rest at Phu village for acclimatization

Day 09: Trek to Nar Phedi 3,545 m – 06 hrs.

Day 10: Trek to Nar-Gaon 4,206 m – 06 hrs.

Day 11: Trek to Kang-La Base Camp 4,530 m – 05 hrs.

Day 12: Cross Kangla Pass 5,322m and trek to Ngawal 3,650 m – 07 hrs.

Day 13: Trek to Manang 3,450 m – 04 hrs.

Day 14: Trek to Yak Kharka 4,110 m – 04 hours.

Day 15: Trek to Thorong High Camp 4,600 m – 04 hrs.

Day 16: Cross Thorong-La 5,416 m and to Muktinath 3,800 m – 07 hrs.

Day 17: Trek to Jomsom 2, 715 m – 04 hours.

Day 18: Fly to Pokhara and transfer to hotel.

Day 19: Drive back to Kathmandu – 06 hrs.

Day 20: International departure for homeward bound.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01 : Arrival in Kathmandu via respective airlines.
On arrival at Kathmandu international airport terminal Sherpa Royal Trek staff and guide will receive you with a warm welcome and then transfer to respective hotels in the hub of Kathmandu around Thamel. After refreshment our guide will brief you with information regarding hotels, Nepali cultures, tours around Manang valley and more, with a welcome dinner in a typical Nepalese restaurant with folk cultural program.

Day 02 : Drive to Jagat 1,290 m via Beshisahar 800m – 08 hrs.
Morning with interesting and scenic long drive towards Nepal-mid west, journey leads to Beshisahar town then on the dirt road to Khudi, Bhulbhule and Ngadi following the Marsyangdi River upstream. Drive continues through rice terrace fields and villages to Syange. Take a slow climb to Jagat for the night stay.

Day 03 : Trek to Dharapani 1,920m – 05 hours.
From Jagat morning walk leads on a gradual winding path to Chamje, and back at Marsyangdi River to cross the eastern bank with superb views of Annapurna and Manaslu mountain ranges. Tal Besi stop for lunch break. Another 2-3 hrs walk leads to Dharapani village for overnight stop, which is a junction of Annapurna circuit trek and Manaslu trek.

Day 04 : Trek to Koto 2,670m – 05 hours.
Morning walk starts on a pleasant trail with beautiful forest of rhododendron, pines and fir trees. After reaching at Bagarchap and Danque village, climb to Timang village for lunch stop with awesome panorama of surrounding snow capped mountains. Timang is a nice village of mixed tribe of hill people Manang, Magar and Gurung. After lunch, another 2-3 hours of good walk takes you to Koto village for overnight stop, where route to Chame and Narphu splits.

Day 05 : Trek to Dharmashala 3,230m – 05 hours.
From Koto, our route splits from the main Annapurna circuit trail for a week heading towards Nar & Phu villages, in one of the hidden corners of Mid West Himalaya range. Walk continues in a narrow valley in between massive walls of towering rock cliffs within cool shade of woodlands passing nice summer pasture fields with huts and sheds of cattle herders and into a gorge created by Pisang Peak and Kang-guru Himal. Walk carries on following Nar-Phu khola (stream) upstream to reach our first overnight stop Dharmashala.

Day 06 : Trek to Kyang 4,100m – 6 hrs.
Trek to complete isolated area of dry and arid landscapes. Walk around these area with a chance of seeing some wildlife’s Blue Sheep, Snow Leopard, Musk deers and mountain goats. As the walk continues finally arrive at Kyang for overnight stop after 5-6 hours of interesting trek of the day. Kyang; with dozen of farm houses and Tibetan cultural lifestyle.

Day 07 : Trek to Phu village 4,080m – 06 hours.
Today, walk leads to our destination, Phu valley and its village(the highlight of our journey). Follow the stream by the side and climb to reach a gorge which opens up into wide glacial valley. After few hours of good walk, you’ll come to nice pasture lands and to Phu village, which is stongly under Tibetan influence with similar culture, traditions and the way of daily farm life.

Day 08 : Rest at Phu village for acclimatization
In this nice village explore around and it’s small hills for better views and also it’s worth a visit to Tashilkhang and Samdu Choling Monastery and Kyauchyu waterfalls. Around Manang with Nar and Phu villages, the native has strong connection in Tibetan way of lifestyle, culture and traditions.

Day 09 : Trek to Nar Phedi 3,545m – 06 hrs.
After pleasant time in the village, morning walk leads back on the same path for few hours downhill to a narrow gorge, at Phu khola. From here a slow climb to reach at Yughat, small village with mani, chortens and Buddhist shrines then finally reaching on a flat and even field at Nar Phedi for overnight stop.

Day 10 : Trek to Nar-Gaon 4,206m – 06 hrs.
Today’s walk leads back to Phu Khola for few hours, and then cross a bridge for a steep climb for few hours to reach a flat and gentle path to conclude the day’s walk at Nar village for overnight. Nargaon, in comparison with Phu, looks similar but smaller due to its remoteness and high altitude dry terrain.

Day 11 : Trek to Kang-La Base Camp 4,530m – 05 hrs.
Walk today heads to complete wilderness, away from human settlement for few days till Ngwal and Manang village. Gradual walk for few hours and then with short ups and downs and passing several cattle herder’s shelters and grazing field following Temdenzon khola, the walk progress through awesome scenery of snow peaks and high rolling hills finally ending the trek at Kang-la pass base for overnight camp.

Day 12 : Cross Kangla Pass 5,322m and trek to Ngawal 3,650m – 07 hrs.
Starting much earlier than normal trekking routine to cross the high pass of Kang-la, the highest point so far before Thorang-la, the cold morning walk makes it warmer as the trail climbs higher on the steep slope for 2-3 hours offering striking view of Pisang Peak with Chulu Peak. Reaching the top, breathtaking views of Annapurna massif mountain range, Chulu Peak, Lamjung Himal and adjoining peaks of Annapurna range. After a fantastic moment and rest, walk downhill through Julu village to our overnight halt at Ngawal village.

Day 13 : Trek to Manang 3,450m – 04 hrs.
After being in the other side of Manang, morning walk is pleasant and continues over a small ridge with awesome scenery of wide valley of Manang and of high mountains on both sides. A slow downhill to Humde village with small airstrip,and to Braga village with its old important monastery and its artifacts which is worth a visit. Trek to Manang village for overnight stay in one of its many excellent lodges.

Day 14 : Trek to Yak Kharka 4,110m – 04 hours.
After a good rest in Manang, morning walk leads towards Ghunsang village on the uphill path to Yak Kharka. This is an interesting high altitude trekking with super views of snowcapped mountains then crossing a small stream river to reach Yak Kharka, a small settlement with tremendous views of Gangapurna, Annapurna III and Chulu Peaks.

Day 15 : Trek to Thorong High Camp 4,600m – 04 hrs.
As the walk advances to high area, heading closer to the base of Thorong-la, the walk leads to cross a bridge and then a climb along the river bank of Jarjung. Next you arrive at Thorong Phedi, here depending upon the physical conditions of the clients and if all goes well, an hour steep climb to Thorong High Camp for overnight stop.

Day 16 : Cross Thorong-La 5,416m and to Muktinath 3,800m – 07 hrs.
Big Day! The highlight of this great adventure.
After an early breakfast walk leads to a long climb up to Thorong-la with a steep terrain and winding path to Thorong La Pass at 5,416 m. The highest altitude gain of this adventure certainly requires a high spirit and physically strong to cross over it. The top offers superb vista of amazing landscapes with snowcapped peaks. Descend long way to Muktinath, which is a holy place for both Hindus and Buddhists(Muktinath means ‘the place for Nirvana or Liberation’).

Day 17 : Trek to Jomsom 2, 715m – 04 hours.After Muktinath, rest of the journey will be much easier with moderate walks all the way with a big drop of 1,200m downhill to Kaligandaki river valley. It will start getting windy during afternoon and walk brings at Jomsom, the headquarter town of Mustang region with a small airstrip above Kaligandaki River. Here you can celebrate with all around famous local apple products like cider, brandy and juice.

Day 18 : Fly to Pokhara and transfer to hotel.
In the morning, walk to Jomsom, a small airport for short sweeping and scenic flight to picturesque Pokhara valley, Pokhara, with massive Annapurna mountain views from serene Phewa Lake.

Day 19 : Drive back to Kathmandu – 06 hrs.
Early in the morning following the same route, you’ll be driven back to Kathmandu within few hours where you can relax and browse around the market rest of the day. You can ask your guide to take you to explore around if you feel like doing so. Farewell dinner is also served.

Day 20 : International departure for homeward bound.Your last day in amazing Nepal. As per international flight time, our staff will transfer you to international airport for your flight back home or to next port of call, after a great Annapurna base camp adventure with Sherpa Royal Trek.
