Everest Gokyo Lake Trek is a mesmerizing and enjoyable adventure which leads you at the foot of worlds highest mountains, on the high hills and valley of Khumbu and Everest region.

Everest Gokyo Lake Trek offers incredible vista of Mt. Everest (8,848m) Lhotse (8,516 m), Cho-Oyu (8, 201m), Nuptse (7,855m) Amadablam (6,812 m) and world’s 5th highest Mt. Makalu (8,463 m) with many other smaller unnamed peaks in the comfort of nice cozy lodge on route trekking.

This fascinating adventure begins with a scenic short flight to Lukla at 2,820 meters high village, where the actual adventure starts from Lukla leading through several cultural Sherpa villages with Buddhist religious monuments and monasteries.

Walk leads to famous Namche Bazaar at 3,440 meters high the capital of Khumbu and main hub of the Sherpa’s. After Namche trek we arrive at our destination at picturesque turquoise Gokyo Lake and we take a hike up to scenic view point GokyoRi at 5,357 meters, the highest point of this adventure with awesome unparallel panorama of world highest peaks with other smaller mountains and Ngozumba glacier, the longest in Nepal Himalaya.

Return journey on the downhill first & with short uphill walk all the way to Lukla where this magnificent Everest Gokyo Lake Trek concludes. A sweeping scenic flight brings you back to Kathmandu after an amazing adventure and great service of Sherpa Royal Trekking and its friendly guides and porters.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu via respective airlines.

Day 02: Preparation day in Kathmandu

Day 03: Fly to Lukla 2,820 m & trek to Phakding 2,640 m – 04 hrs.

Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m – 05 hrs.

Day 05: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.

Day 06: Trek to Dole 4,110m – 06 hrs.

Day 07: Trek to Machherma 4,470m-04 hrs.

Day 08: Trek to Gokyo 4,800m -04 hrs.

Day 09: Gokyo rest day, hike to GokyoRi 5,357m.

Day 10: Trek back to Dole – 06 hrs.

Day 11: Trek to Namche Bazaar – 06 hr.

Day 12: Trek back to Lukla – 07 hrs.

Day 13: Fly back to Kathmandu afternoon free at leisure.

Day 14: International departure for homeward bound.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01 : Arrival in Kathmandu via respective airlines.
On arrival at Kathmandu international airport terminal Sherpa Royal Trek staff and guide will receive you with a warm welcome and then transfer to respective hotels in the hub of Kathmandu around the interesting area of Thamel. After refreshment our guide / leader will brief with information regarding hotels, Nepali culture, tours and trek to Everest Gokyo Lake with a welcome dinner in a typical Nepalese restaurant with folk cultural program.

Day 02 : Preparation day in KathmanduWe separate this day for the preparation of the entire journey. You will be informed of all the trekking plans and the packing lists, what you can expect and how it can be more interesting. This day can be important to most of the people before beginning the journey. Sightseeing tour in Kathmandu is optional when if intended, you can visit a number of world heritage listed places .

Day 03 : Fly to Lukla 2,820 m & trek to Phakding 2,640m – 04 hrs.
Starting early morning having or with pack breakfast, a short drive toKathmandu domestic air terminal for a short scenic flight to Lukla in a smaller plane with 35 minutes airborne, incredible views of snowcapped mountains range with glimpse of Everest as the plane lands at Lukla amazing airstrip. From Lukla after a refreshing break follow our expert guide as the walk leads downhill and on gradual winding trail passing several nice Sherpa traditional villages with cheerful smiles to reach our first overnight stop at Phakding village by the glacial river Dudh Kosi.

Day 04 : Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440m – 05 hrs.
After an enjoyable first day trekking, this morning walk is pleasant for the first half heading into beautiful alpine woodland of pines and rhododendron trees with views of snowcapped peaks, walk leads following the river upstream crossing several bridges and enter the Sagarmatha National Park entrance at Monjo, this park listed as highest park and within world heritage sites. As the walk progress after the last high bridge and uphill haul all the way to Namche Bazaar, a wonderful town-village where the colorful houses serving as hotels and lodge set in a U shape. In Namche Bazaar the last place with modern facilities of ATM, Banks, post office, Cyber Café, Trekking / Climbing shops and stores with many café, bakeries and restaurants with great views of Kwangde peaks towards south.

Day 05 : Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.
Namche Bazaar an ideal spot for rest day and acclimatization at 3,440 meters high before heading higher elevation. Morning after breakfast take short walk to the top of Namche at Park headquarter area with a museum full of information regarding Khumbu / Everest area of Sherpa religions, culture, history, mountaineering to flora and flora. This wonderful spot offers stunning views of Amadablam, Tharmasarku, Kangtenga, Kwangde, Khumbi-la with Mt. Everest and Lhotse towards North, after an impressive morning head back to lodge for lunch with afternoon free to relax and catch up with the dairy and browse around the bazaar.

Day 06 : Trek to Dole 4,110m – 06 hrs.
From here our route heads to Gokyo Lake, the first hour is pleasant till it joins the main trail near Shanasa, here might see some wildlife around this area the elusive musk deer, and sometime even herd of Himalayan Thar (mountain goat). From here leaving the main base camp trail, where our route diverts towards north with a slow climb to the ridge at Mong 3,973 meters. After Mong the path descends with series of switchbacks to Dudh Kosi at PhortseThanghka. From here continue to Dole, the path ascends through a patch of rhododendron forest then gives way to juniper and conifers trees then to Tongbavillage at 3,950m and Gyele 3,960m and finally reaching at Dole for the overnight halt with striking view of Khumbila and Tawache 6,542m.

Day 07 : Trek to Machherma 4,470m-04 hrs.
After Dole, journey continues along the side of the valley on a moderate level trail for an hour to LhabarmaKharka at 4,325 m and to Luza at 4,390m; then skirting around the ridge line with first glimpse of Machherma, situated in the valley, then finally reaching at Machherma for lunch and overnight stop after a good scenic walk, afternoon free for acclimatization for short hike for views of Mt. Cho Oyo 8,210m and all the mountains that flank the Ngozumba Glacier.

Day 08 : Trek to Gokyo 4,800m -04 hrs.
Slowly and gradually journey leads to Gokyo Lake following a scenic trail to Pangka 4,545m, then climbing a rocky path into ablation valley passing the first lake and the second lake, the reaching the third lake known as Dudh Pokhari the bank of the shore is summer settlement of Gokyo at 4,790 meters. After lunch free short hike and acclimatization the side of the lake offers awesome views of world’s 06th highest Mt. Cho Oyo and Gyachung Kang with reflection on emerald green Gokyo Lake.

Day 09 : Gokyo rest day, hike to GokyoRi 5,357m.
Morning hike to GokyoRi 5,357m the highlight of this journey GokyoRi offers mind blowing scenery panorama of world’s highest peak from Mt. Cho Oyo, Gyachung Kang, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Cholatse, Taweche and to the east rises Mt. Makalu. After a mesmerizing time at GokyoRi descend to Gokyo for lunch and relax with the surrounding awesome views of mountains and landscapes.

Day 10 : Trek back to Dole – 06 hrs.
After an enjoyable and fascinating time in Gokyo, morning walk leads on the same route passing settlements of LhabarmaKharka, Luza then skirting around the ridge line heading downhill to reach Dole after a wonderful walk of more than 5 hours.

Day 11 : Trek to Namche Bazaar – 06 hr.
From Dole a pleasant morning walk on downhill to reach the Dudh Kosi River and back into tree lines at Phortse Thanka. After a nice break in between heading uphill at MongDanda a small village on a hill top ridge with fantastic views.
From here a long descendleads back at Namche Bazaar for overnight stop.

Day 12 : Trek back to Lukla – 07 hrs.
Retrace the journey back to Lukla via Monjo near Sagarmatha National Park entrance and exit, a pleasant and relaxing walk enjoying the surrounding scenery as the trail leads back to Lukla on this last day walk of this fabulous adventure, just few small short uphill climb brings you back to Lukla for last overnight stop around Khumbu and Everest, a farewell to our loyal and friendly porters.

Day 13 : Fly back to Kathmandu afternoon free at leisure.
Flight starts early morning, transfer to Tenzing and Hillary air terminal at Lukla airport on boarding the plane a sweeping flight of 35 minutes brings you back in Kathmandu and then transfer to respective hotels with rest of the day free at leisure. Farewell dinner is served at night.

Day 14 : International departure for homeward bound.
Your last day in amazing Nepal as per international flight time our staff will transfer you to international airport for your flight back home or to next port of call, after a great and enjoyable adventure to Everest Gokyo Lake Trek with utmost grand service of Sherpa Royal Trek and its guides and porters.
